Sutherlin Salutes America's Heroes

Sutherlin salutes America's heroes is Sutherlin's gift to Douglas County and beyond as we celebrate Sutherlin's 100th birthday.

An Idea is Born!

For the past two years, the Evening Branch of the Sutherlin Lions Club, with the help of our community, has promoted Take Care of Sutherlin Days. As part of that event, in both years, we included a flag retirement ceremony. This year we added a Memorial Ceremony for Navy Petty Officer 3rd Class David M Mudge.

2011 is Sutherlin's 100th Birthday. Inspired by the flag retirement ceremonies and with deep respect for all of our brave American Heroes who put their lives on the line every day to protect us and our freedom, the idea was born to bring the American Veterans Traveling Tribute, the Traveling Wall, to Sutherlin.

The Traveling Wall

The Sutherlin Lions Club chose this particular traveling memorial because it includes not only an 80% replica of the actual Vietnam War Memorial; it pays tributes to other American heroes as well.

This traveling tribute is a true depiction of the great sacrifices made throughout the history of our country.
